Gilles, The Child Weaver

A Lunar who lost his mate during the Darkening of Creation, Gilles hid his Lunar status upon entering the Dream. His grief was aggravated by the Wyld, causing him to develop a crippling fear that the forces that killed his mate were loose on the Dream. His mental condition only worsened as time passed, though he was able to conceal his presence on the Dream for over three years. He was discovered during the investigation into the child disappearances that had plagued the Dream for some years. He was thoroughly insane at that point, using the kidnapped children in horrific and pointless experiments, all the while raging against the Incarnae for abandoning his mate. The Lunar Conclave put down the chimera and the demons of Kimbery he had summoned.

Most of the children tortured by his experiments were beyond salvation, especially given the Dream's limited resources. This magnified the existing low level of children - there had been almost no births aboard since the Dream began its current flight - and made the few survivors that much more precious.
