[edit] Cardith Joransson

Cardith Joransson is the unofficial speaker for The Dreamers.

[edit] Appearance

Cardith is a tall, fairly gaunt man of fair complexion. His pale blonde hair and green eyes are somewhat typical of the hardy Haslanti folk, but he is generally considered a handsome man. He wears his hair long, some of it braided, most of it loose, and wears a full beard. He is well-groomed for a Haslanti, which sits him about middling as the sum of the Titan's residents go.

His clothes are neat, rugged, and functional, with finer materials being his only allowance toward his position. His affectation for the heavy fur mantle common to his people is unusual, but not entirely impractical given that many areas aboard the Titan are somewhat cooler than might be considered ideal.

[edit] Personality

Congenial and well-mannered, Cardith is an example of someone caught between transitioning from being a private person occasionally called upon to interact with others for his livelihood and being a public figure. While there are some false starts now and again, he is generally regarded as cordial and properly aloof. He is more relaxed amongst the Haslanti and other residents of the Green Plate, where he cracks jokes and patiently suffers the advice and good-natured ribbing of the Grandmothers.

[edit] History

Anyone who brings Cardith up in conversation with a member of The Dreamers or is in a position to know would be aware that Cardith was a pretty competent merchant in his former life and that he is an above average sailor and linguist. Observant individuals might also note that Cardith has become quite good at manipulating and directing large groups of people very subtly, most often the Dreamers.

He's a talented gambler and could probably make a living gambling if he were so inclined. Something many people fail to pick up on is that Cardith is smart, having learned to pay attention when smarter people are talking, picking up as much history and knowledge as he can. While he does not practice very often, Cardith is perfectly capable of throwing the hatchet he wears at his belt with surprising accuracy.

But first and foremost if asked about Cardith most people aboard the ship will note that Cardith did the Exalted equivalent of leading his people out of the desert. "The Tale of the Iceship Captain" is an ode to Cardith: it describes an unnamed man who worked himself half to death saving his Emerald and Exalted when he, even though by all rights he should have been dead, stood up to lead the Haslanti north to the Dream of Sweet Rain. His toughness is almost legendary among his people.
