The Riverlands

The Riverlands consist of a group of geographically collected villages on the north east side of the continent. The land which they surround is moderatley forrested, and settlements consist of variety of small agricultural villages with a couple of larger cities acting as trading hubs on the eastern side of the continent. Governments vary from village to village, but tend to controlled by a locally elected mayor. Wars do sometimes breakout between villages, but these are usually of a small scale nature. In the rare event that a more serious conflict arrises in the region, it is usually quelled by the Paladins of the Holy Citidel, or more properly The Paladanic Order of the Holy Citidel. The riverlands are settled almost entirely by humans, and other races are treated with a degree of mistrust, but mostly just curiosity.

The Economy of the riverlands is heavily driven by agriculture, which makes efficient use of the waterways for purposes of milling of grains. Trapping also plays an important part of the export market, in addition, there are a number of mines in the southern part of the region which specialize in the export of Iron Ore, and to a lesser extent, platinum. Most shipping of goods occurs along the numerous waterways, but there is still an extensive role for caravans to play in shipments.

The region is under constant threat from orcish raiding parties from the wastes, and as such, each village maintains its own military force to use in the event an attack. In addition, the forces of the Citidel also work to ensure the safety of the region. Each of the larger cities maintains its own order of city guards, but there are few forces in the form of a standing army outside of the citidel. Many of the citizens in the region pay tithe to the citidel to help ensure their defense from the orcish forces which congregate in and around the city of Orath-Grun
