The regional military is somewhat conventional in form. The Army is composed of humans who are granted special privileges over the rest of the populace in trade for their service.  A high ranking military position is the most coveted and respected position attainable by a male human within Sorthinian society. Although women occasionally do enter military service, this is highly discouraged both by the military and society at large.
