A) Wetland’ refers collectively to marshes, swamps, bogs and similar areas found between dry land and water along the edges of streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, and coastlines.Wetlands also are characterized by their vegetation, as:

Emergent wetlands, commonly called marshes and wet meadows, dominated by grasses, sedges and other herbaceous or non-woody plants;

Shrub wetlands, including shrub swamps and bogs, characterized by low to medium-height woody plants; and

Forested wetlands, largely wooded swamps and bottomland hardwood forests.

B) Wetlands Protect and Improve Water Quality, help control flooding and erosion, and provide a habitat for Terrestrial and Aquatic Wildlife.

C) Forests once covered 95 percent of the watershed. Today, they cover about 60 percent, performing vital functions that benefit water and air quality. More than 50 major tree species and more than 2,700 different plant species grow in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

D)Forests protect water quality, create babitat for fish and wildlife, improve air quality, encourage resreation, and contribute to the economy.

F) Plankton is the most abundant food producer in the water, without it all sea life would end up extinct.

G) The destruction of wetlands occurs everywhere, whether it is inland or by the coast. This can pose as a problem to many people. By destroying wetlands, people are destroying wildlife; also making the chances of a flood happening higher. The destruction of wetlands not only have caused problems to Chesapeake Bay, but also to many other areas throughout the globe.
