- RAM = Random Access Memory (Memoria ad accesso casuale)
- Indica le memorie per cui l'accesso al singolo dato può avvenire anche in maniera non strettamente sequenziale.
(Questo acronimo è quasi sempre riferito alle sole memorie volatili e non ai dispositivi di memoria di massa)
- ROM = Read Only Memory (Memoria di sola lettura)
- Indica le memorie che sono accessibili in sola lettura e non scrivibili.

- S-ATA = Serial-Advanced Technology Attachment (Connesione seriale a tecnologia avanzata)
- E' uno standard di connessione dei dispositivi di memorizzazione nell'ambito di un personal computer.
- Indica un package per chip di tipo PDIP realizzato con un passo tra i piedini minore.
- SPICE = Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (Programma orientato alla simulazione di circuiti integrati)
- E' un programma per la simulazione di circuiti elettronici.

- TACS = Total Access Communications System (sistema di comunicazione ad accesso totale)
- E' uno standard di telefonia mobile analogico oggi non più in uso
(è l'analogo europeo dell'americano AMPS)
- TDMA = Time Division Multiple Access (accesso multiplo a separazione nel tempo)
- E' una tecnica di accesso, da parte di più sorgenti di informazione, allo stesso canale di trasmissione

- USB = Universal Serial Bus
- Indica uno standard di comunicazione seriale che consente di collegare diverse periferiche ad un computer.
- UMTS = Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (sistema universale di telecomunicazioni mobili)
- E' uno standard di telfonia mobile.
(è anche indicato come "terza generazione" di telefonia mobile.

- VHDL = Vhsic Hardware Description Language (linguaggio per la descrizione dell'hardware di VHSIC)
- E' un linguaggio che permette di descrivere l'hardware elettronico ai fini della sua simulazione e della sua sintesi.
(la sua origine risiede nel progetto VHSIC)
- E' un programma di ricerca del governo degli Stati Uniti.
- VLSI = Very Large Scale Integration (Integrazione su scala molto estesa)
- Indica le tecnologie capaci di inserire un numero molto elevato di transistor (BJT o MOS) su un singolo chip di silicio.
