Solo Islands

From Electrosphere

The Solo Islands, located about 30 miles north of Sand Island with many volcanic characteristic's sheers and mountains, they are a group of seemingly desolate islands in the middle of the Ceres Ocean. However, on one of the islands is an aircraft scrap yard, housing old junked transport other large aircraft and scrapped fighters. A series of 'abandoned' cargo tunnels goes through one of the islands and the Solo Island chain emits a radar-jamming ECM field, due to a large concentration of magnetite.

[edit] Circum Pacific War (Op. "Final Option")

After the fall of the Cruik Fortress in Yuktobania and returning to Sand Island Air Base, the Wardog Squadron's members were marked as Yuktobanian Spies by Osean Captain Hamilton, who had been stationed on the base for sometime. The entire air base went on alert and attempted to capture the Wardog members. With the help of Peter N. Beagle, the Wardog manage to escape the airbase in four Hawk T.1 Trainer Aircraft. As they left Sand Island airspace all Osean aircraft in the area were order to find and destroy the Wardog squadron; this order was given by Captain Hamilton.

The Wardog were spotted by the Osean 8492nd Tactical Fighter Squadron, which were being lead by AWACS Thunderhead. The Wardog squadron used Solo Island's jamming effect to evade pursuing 8492nd fighters. After flying through the island's terrain and various tunnels, the 8492nd broke away from the pursuit. The Wardog Squadron was eventually intercepted by 'Swordsman' from the carrier Kestrel and were shot down. According to Osean records the pilots had been killed, thus ending the history of the Wardog Squadron. However, the pilots did not die, but were recovered by the Sea Goblin Helicopter Squadron from the OFS Kestrel of the Osean's 3rd Naval Fleet.

[edit] Crossing Paths

During the escape from Sand Island, Peter N. Beagle whose real name was Wolfgang Buchner was spotted by Ashley Bernitz; the pilot who shot down Wolfgang and Jack Bartlett during the Belkan War. Ashley, now the leader of the 8492nd and Wolfgang had a small exchange during the Wardog's escape. The exchange revealed a lasting hatred of Wolfgang's decision to flee from Belka; Wolfgang was apparently the most infamous traitor in Belka's history.
