Futuro Canal

From Electrosphere

The long, straight body of water that seperates two greater bodies of water is surrounded by flat land. Some short hills, punctuated by hardy trees break this generalization. Two empty bases sit on either side of the canal, the sand covering up most traces of the ugly battles of Offensive Campaign No. 4101. In the northernmost waters, oil and pieces of metal stain the waters, making fishing here treacherous, though it has been many years since anyone lived here.

[edit] Belkan War (Op. 4101)

Operations: Costner, Gelnikos and Round Hammer took place here on the 24th of April 1995. Each operation was to be taken on by three different teams, comprised of Allied Aircraft, including the 66th AFU 'Galm'. Offensive Campaign No. 4101 opened with operation Gelnikos, which was aimed at neutralizing air, ground and ECM defenses at the opening of the canal. Operation Round Hammer followed Gelnikos and targeted remaining air and ground forces, as well as the Belkan Navy, at the end of the canal. The final mission, Operation Costner, involved escorting the Osean 3rd Naval Fleet and the new, state-of-the-art carrier OFS Kestrel, which was making her maiden combat voyage here. The Belkan Navy, Army, Air Force and the "Winds of Futuro" were all defeated and each operation was successful. Futuro Canal was taken by the newly formed Allied Forces on the same day.
