Comona Islands

This location is first seen in Ace Combat 2. It reappears in Ace Combat 03: Electrosphere and Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. This island chain is located off of the south-eastern coast of the Usean Continent in the Spring Sea. The Comona Islands are tropical and are home of the largest Space Facilitiy on the Usean Continent. The Rocket Launch Facility, which was named after FCU Chief of Staff, Michael Riass, who died suddenly on June 20th of 1996, experiances multiple changes as years passed. Sometime after the year 2020, Neucom Inc. took the Riass Space Center in the Comona Islands and turned it into a Neucom Space Research Facility and Airbase.

In 2004, the Comona Islands were the site of the largest air battle in Modern Usean and World History. The First SSTO Launch System was constructed in the Comona Islands and later, the first Space Combat Mission in world history was launched from the Riass Space Center in the Comona Islands.
[edit] Usean Rebellion ("Toy Box")
During the Usean Coupe de' tat, a Rebellious military force had began siezing cities and facilities across the Usean Continent. One of these Facilities happened to be the first Comona Island Space Center in the Comona Islands. The Rebel Forces had taken control of a Launch Pad capable of launching Space Shuttles, a large Storage Area and a SSTO Launch Facility. During an Air Strike made by the Usean Government's Scar Face Task Force (SFTS), the Launch Pad and much of the Hangar Area was destroyed. In one of the Hangars a Super-Heavy Long Ranged Bomber Aircraft was sighted and destroyed by the SFTS. This Aircraft model was confirmed as the [[XB-10 Big Bad Man. A Second XB-10 would be sighted during the closing days of the war, but shot down soon after. The Space Facility taken back by the allied Usean Forces and was repaired after the war and continued to operate normally.
[edit] Usean Continental War (Op. Countdown)
In 2004, during the final planning phases of the counter-invasion of the Usean Mainland, by the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF), a satellite which was to be a key part to the ISAF attack was sent to the Comona Island's Riass Space Center. The Erusian Military was informed of this and promptly sent all available aircraft to the Comona Islands in order to destroy the satellite and the rocket which would propel it into space. The ISAF scrambled it's air forces in response to this and the aerial combat which would envelope the space center would develop into the largest air battle in modern history. The Eruisan Military sent in waves of fighters which were meant to gain air superioiry over the facility and clear the way for a unit of six B-2 Stealth Bombers. The ISAF managed to hold off the Erusian Air Forces, destroyed the B-2 bombers and other supporting Erusian Aircraft and successfully launched the satellite into space. The ISAF used the momentum of this major victory to launch an amphibious assualt on the southern beaches of the Usean Continent.
[edit] Corporate War of 2045 ("Reaching for Stars") [NA]
The Universal Peace Enforcement Organization (UPEO) dispatched it's ace pilot AI program "Nemo", to the Comona Islands in order to support the launch of a Neucom Inc. space research craft and defend it from a General Resource Defense Force (GRDF) attack group, which was deploying air dropped Antlion walking tanks. Nemo destroyed the Antlion Walking Tanks, before they landed near the facility. The GRDF attack group attempted to destroy the facility themselves, but were also destroyed. The Neucom Space Vehicle launched safely because of Nemo's efforts.
