The G-Man, or simply G-Man, is a key, yet mysterious and enigmatic character in the Half-Life series. Referred to as a "sinister interdimensional bureaucrat", he is known to display peculiar behavior and capabilities beyond that of a human and his identity and motives remain almost completely unexplained. He plays the role of an overseer watching over other characters as the series progresses.
Role in the DYOS Universe
Originally cast as a Easter Egg character placed in a distance in the background yet still visable (Much like The G-man in the Half Life series). The G-man pays a more important role late in DYOS 10 where he summons both CivGeneral and Samus Aran to tell them about what they will expect when they return home. He also took Alyx Vance and placed her in stasis for her one safety due to his rationale that she may take the same fate as Mara Jade and seek revenge for being a former avatar.
The G-man serves as a plot device along with a mysterious stranger role. Usually leaving behind some sort of aid that would help CivGeneral and Samus along there journey. Hint on this sort of activity, wherever the G-man is located but once the main character arrives in that area, he is gone but a weapon or tool is there instead, A similar fashion seen in Half Life 2. Unlike Fallout 3's Mysterious Stranger, The G-man prefers to keep his distance from any combat.
