Here are some frequently asked questions to help you out with becoming familiar with Dynast's End. If you have any questions not answered here, please feel free to contact a mod!

[edit] Do I have to read this whole effing wiki?
Yes and no. If you have a basic familiarity with the world of FFXII or games in the FFTactics series, you've more or less already 'read' most of it. The wiki is primarily a tool for people who've never played the game (and another good tool is the Final Fantasy Wiki).
However, we ask that all players read the sections of the wiki relevant to their characters, regardless of whether they've played the game before. For example, if you app a Landisian Black Mage who lives in Bhujerba, you'll be expected to have read the pages on Landis, on Black Mages, and on Bhujerba. The rest is yours to read whenever you feel like it.
[edit] There are locations/entities in FFXII that aren't in the wiki. Why not?
A lot of information was cut for practical purposes. The Occuria and many of the places related to them, the espers Zodiark and Ultima, and a few job classes that we felt were repetitive. The additional Espers were cut because we felt they would be too powerful and we wanted all the espers to be on a fairly level playing field. The Occuria because, for now at least, they're out of the picture in Ivalice. If you notice something missing feel free to ask about it - it might just be that it's something we forgot to include. However, any major information missing was left out on purpose, and will remain unavailable.
[edit] Will the character cap be lifted at a future date?
No. The cap will always stay at six. That being said, players can choose to NPC (Non-Playable Character) one of their characters and open one of their slots that way, so you won't be stuck with a character if you lose interest in them.

[edit] Can I use any PB I like for any race/nationality I like?
Yes and no. Yes, in the sense that you can use a PB of any ethnicity for a hume or aegyl of any country. The game only suggests parallels between countries in Ivalice and countries in the real world. So, while you could assume that Bhujerban culture is based loosely on that of regions of India, you don't need to make your Bhujerban character look identifiably Indian.
Viera should for the most part have dark complexions, though lighter-skinned Viera do exist, they are simply a much rarer sight. And all your Dalmascans should have a badonkadonk.
[edit] Can I app a male Viera?
Yes. Just keep in mind that male Viera are more reclusive than female Viera and are therefore less likely to be a part of hume society.
[edit] Can I app a relative of one of the canon characters in FFXII?
Only in specific circumstances. Whoever apps the Queen of Dalmasca, for instance, will be related to Ashe by default. Otherwise we ask that you create characters unrelated to those in the series.
[edit] Can I app an Occuria or an Esper?
No. Only the races listed on the Playable Races page are open for applications.
[edit] How does 'insert job class here' train to become an Advanced Job?
For the most part, simply a combination of studying and practice. There's no specific requirement besides at least 8 years of some form of practice/experience.
[edit] Can I app a prodigy who became an Advanced Job at a young age/with little practice?
No. Every character is expected to have that minimum 8 years of experience to hold an Advanced Job. No exceptions.
