Ariel Hawk

Ariel Hawk is a freshman at Dunehelden Academy. She is the daughter of Professor Vincent Hawk, and the cousin of Natalie Burns. She, like her namesake, Ariel the Little Mermaid, has a deep love and a great talent for singing.

Ariel was born in Leeds, England to Vincent and Christine Hawk. Her father raised her on his own after her mother died of complications resulting from a difficult childbirth. She grew up with a strong belief in fantasy and the supernatural, and as a result she has no problem associating with vampires, werewolves, mages or Fae. She isn’t sure yet whether she wants to follow directly in her father’s footsteps or not, despite being taught by him both in martial arts and music. She was enrolled at Dunehelden a few years after her father began teaching there.

Not a lot is known about Ariel's life at Dunehelden thus far. She has attracted the attention of Korlian, a boy in her grade, and it is in part thanks to Korlian that she was rescued from the clutches of the notorious Professor Conall. She also shares a mutual crush with Jaebi Lyckander, though they have yet to admit their feelings to each other.

Ariel is a very sweet, good-natured girl, but intensely curious and headstrong. Thanks to her father, she has a stubborn streak a mile wide. She harbors a deep love for her father, and also for Diana Harrows, whom she views as "the next best thing to the mother [she] never knew." She tries to stay on good terms with her cousin Natalie, but owing to years of estrangement, that hasn't been going so well.
