Light comes from the very awesome animanga [[Death Note]], in which ace student Yagami Light, bored with his mundane life, finds a Death Note after school one day and begins to use to it cleanse the world of evil. However, super detective [[L]] begins to notice that criminals are systemically being killed off via heart attacks, and suspects that someone known as Kira by the Japanese population is behind these killings. A battle of the wits between these two men soon breaks out, with neither of them knowing the other's true identity.

Feeling the pressure, Light transfers to Desai University. His identity as Kira is unknown to everybody and is only suspected of being Kira by [[L]].

==Personality==
Yagami Light is an extremely intelligent individual with an excellent ability to solve even the most difficult of problems. Light's a very assertive person; he knows what he wants and precisely how to get it, and he will. Light's a highly ambitious guy and a hard worker. He is determined, he will do whatever he can in order to get what he wants. If he happens to fail or something doesn't go the way he wanted, he will get right back up and try again. Light isn't one to easily give up and cry. In fact, he never cries and almost never shows his emotions. He's a Class S expert at hiding them and rarely ever lets his emotions surface for public viewing, making him a very difficult person to read. You can't really tell what goes through his head unless you happen to think almost exactly the way he does.

Light doesn't take well to losing. In fact, he hates it. He likes to win, to taste the sweet flavor of victory, and he's quite the confident individual. He hates feeling humialated and will take down whoever made him feel that way. You don't get away with making Yagami Light look a fool, oh no you don't. He'll spite you, get his vengeance, and you'll be the one who looks like an idiot. That's just the way it is. Light can get quite scary when you piss him off enough and houses a somewhat psychotic nature deep within himself. Just don't cross his path and you're good.

Light can be a bit of a loner although, he most definitely knows how to talk to people and will approach them when there's something he needs. He knows how to sweet talk to them and coax them into giving him want he wants. This leads Light to be somewhat manipulative as he can easily and readily use people for his own advantage.

Despite his weak points, Light's actually a decent person. He has a strong sense of justice, cares for his family, and doesn't like seeing innocent people get injured or killed. This causes Light to see the world as rotten due to the corruption plaguing the land, and he wants to make the world a much better place, where crime doesn't exsist and people can live their lives in peace, without the fear that something tragic will fall upon them or their loved ones. He will do whatever he can to see that there's justice in the world.

Light's past isn't very significant, nothing traumatizing ever happened to him that seriously affected his mentality or twisted his way of thinking. He led a relatively normal childhood, growing up with his loving mother and father and his only sister, who happens to be younger than him, in a seemingly ideal and perfect family. No problems arose between the members of the family and they never found themselves at odds with each other, caught up in some kind of conflict. If a problem ever reared its ugly head, it was most likely resolved in an efficient and effective manner, leaving no one to hold any grudges against one another.

Light's father is a cop and works under the NPA, a police force in Japan. Light occasionally helps his father solve cases with his sharp intellect and amazing analytical skills. Due to his exposure to police work, Light aspires to one day join the NPA, just like his father did.

Light spends most of his time studying and attends a cram school to help him prepare for college entrance exams. Because of the lack of variety in his daily routine, Light begins to get bored. One day, while blanky staring out the window of his cram school, Light witnessed a mysterious notebook falling down from the sky. After class, he went to pick up and discovered the notebook was a Death Note. At first, Light believed it was just a stupid prank, but his curiousity got the best of him, and he brought it home.

Light continued to doubt the Death Note, but due to his boredom, he decided to test it out. After killing two people with the Death Note, Light determined that it was indeed real, and found himself in conflict. He had murdered two people, and this fact troubled him greatly, slowly eating away at his consience. He knew this notebook was dangerous, and after much internal debate, Light decicided that he must keep the notebook and cleanse the world of evil, for he was the only one who could. One by one, criminals dropped dead, dying of a heart attacks once Light sealed their fate by writing their name into the notebook. However, once various police organizations in the world began to notice the mass killing of criminals, they grew suspicious, believing that someone was murdering them.

L, the top agent in all the world ascertained that Kira, the name given to the killer, was residing in Japan, more specifically, the Kanto region, during a meeting with Interpol. With this new knowledge, L and the NPA joined forces to track down Kira and put an end to his mass murdering. Light soon found the investigation team hot on his heels, and with L's ever growing suspicion of him, he decided to enter Desai University because he wanted a school that would help escape from the investigation team and provide educational benefits all the same.
