Disaster Preparedness: Earthquakes
Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 10:00:31 -0700 From: "Mariko Nakanishi" <zzcat @ pacbell .net> Subject: Earthquake preparedness Forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stealthvolunteers/
Today's LA Times came with a booklet called "Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country" by USGS. Contains very detailed, step-by-step instructions on what to do before, during, and after earthquakes. They have a San Francisco Bay Region version. The Southern California version didn't have any mention of pets, and the SF Bay Region only says "Pets are not allowed in most emergency shelters. Do you have a plan to feed and care for your animals after an earthquake?" and doesn't even offer any suggestions or resources.

Travel by Air
From: "janice king" <carpe_d_m@...> Date: Sun Apr 9, 2006 10:48 am Subject: Another resource AIRLINE IN-CABIN TRAVEL LIST
http://www.sherpapets.com/ has a travel list of airlines who allow pets to travel in the cabins (and those who don't) plus a list of the requirements (size weight etc) and contact information. Click on customer service then travel links for listings. Owner of site Gayle Martz, is a former flight attendant. According to her bio, she set about changing requirements for animal air travel when she decided to travel with her own Lhasa apso, devising a travel cage that was lightweight and fit under the seats on the airline. janice
