Today's LA Times came with a booklet called "Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country" by USGS. Contains very detailed, step-by-step instructions on what to do before, during, and after earthquakes. They  have a San Francisco Bay Region version. The Southern California version  didn't have any mention of pets, and the SF Bay Region only says "Pets are not allowed in most emergency shelters. Do you have a plan to feed and care  for your animals after an earthquake?" and doesn't even offer any  suggestions or resources.
