Refuse Vehicles There have been several questions raised recently about whether refuse trucks are permitted to park on the verge for loading & unloading purposes. The following explains that a refuse truck may stop on the verge to collect refuse for a period of no more than 2 minutes. The DA position should be for a development to contain the refuse collection vehicle completely on the site where there are bulk bins or multiple bins that will take time to load. In smaller developments some relaxation might be acceptable provided the time constraint can be addressed and the vehicle does not completely block the verge for pedestrians walking along the footpath.(posted aug 12)
