You can't shoot William.

From Create Your Own Story

You look down the gleaming barrel of your gun at the man you love, perverted by evil, and feel your finger tighten on the trigger.

But you freeze.

The creature, discovered, suddenly lashes out it's head down into the neck of Madeline. Your eyes widen in shock as the creature in one violent ripping motion tears Madeline's throat from her neck, spraying gore all over the bedsheets and himself before leaping for the window. You open fire on the creature but in the darkness the bullets just spak uselessly into the walls, the monster smashing through the window pane and tearing off across the yard towards the moor.

You fire after it until you run out of bullets. You turn numbly to see Lord Kellar weeping horribly over his mangled and now quite dead daughter, ravaged and murdered by her own transformed brother. You feel nothing, unable to even feel sorrow, so deadened by guilt and maddening grief.

You know what you have to do. If you delay at all at this point you know you will never be able to end it, the monster will have escaped. You also know it's best to spare William the grief of having to transform back and discover his horrible crime. There is only action now.
