You Fell Through the Ice (Good Job)

From Create Your Own Story

The water is quite cool below the ice, and you are thankful that the ice didn’t cut you as you fell through. It would be a pity if the clear, pretty water was stained with your blood.

Your skinny legs move and, somehow, manage to propel you forwards. You note that you’re not having any difficulties in breathing, which makes you quite happy.

Maybe this isn’t so bad if I can walk on and breathe under water. (Why would it be bad, again?)

You also note that you can see perfectly well. Somehow, you also know the depths and length and width of the lake, as well as noting that the lake is completely empty, baring you of course.

You find that strange, and upon further thought you think that such a lake would be perfect for others to live in. A few Magikarp, some Goldeen, perhaps even a Dragonair would find this lake to be a nice home.

You pause and blink, and images of the Pokemon you just thought of flash behind your eyes, as well as some key facts about them.

That’s right. A powerful voice jerks you out of your ponderings. You look around and note that you are still alone in the lake.

Who’s there?

Come on, you can do better then that. Really broadcast your voice. If We weren’t as strong as We were, We wouldn’t even hear you; you’re so quiet. Bury deep, now.

You concentrate harder and your focus goes to the place where that… Aurora Beam came from. As you do, you notice a powerful presence on the edge of your subconscious.

…Like this…?

Yes. Good job. You’re a quick one. We chose well when We selected you.

…Selected…?

Yes. Anyway, you have begun remembering about this world – well, not this world, exactly; the place you’re in isn’t the Pokemon World; its just a place for you to get a hold on your powers, and become the Pokemon you’re meant to be… It’s much easier for you to do that without Humans’ prying eyes… Where were we….?

Ummm…

Aahh, right. You have remembered some things, but you have much more to realize before your destiny as a Pokemon Legend can begin.

The presence fades and you get the impression that… whatever it is… has taken its focus off of you. You float for a moment, wondering what to do and completely perplexed. It returns quickly, however.

You’ve made good progress. You’re cautious; wither that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen. You’ve already discovered Aurora Beam, which will help you get a better grip on your other moves. We suggest mastering Mirror Coat first; very handy against those who would attack you and when your speed isn’t enough.

Attack?

Yes. You are a legendary after all; many humans tend to want to capture a legendary and use their power for their own ends, though you can also run into Heroes when the plot… ahem… situation calls for it.

Heroes?

Yes, yes. People whom are pure-hearted who are trustworthy enough to be trusted with great power, and will help with righting the world’s balance, and whom tend to have large, far-sighted goals… But now We’re getting off topic…

‘We’…? I hear only one of you.

Well of course you do. Legendary or not, you are still somewhat Mortal. It would give you a headache if you heard all of Us. Though, that is a testament of your power as a legendary. If your average human heard every one of Us, their head would probably explode.

Oh, lovely. You definitely didn’t need that mental image. Though, reflecting on what… they said before, you feel that the one big presence is more like millions of smaller ones made stronger by their sheer numbers.

You feel approval from the presence as you realize it.

Your mental power is strong; that’s always a good trait to have in a legendary.

The many presences seem to confer with one another for a few moments.

Now, to business. Questions?
