WLB/Step off the bus

From Create Your Own Story

You follow Sarah into the massive entrance into the cave. Warm wind blows into the cave and a noise echoes in the distance. It was a hollow, almost clicking sound. Sarah must have heard it as well, and tightens her grip on your arm. Your teacher starts to speak up, but then realizes that she's left her bag in the bus. She heads back in to get it, and a deep rumble comes from deep within the cave. The ground begins to shake, and Sarah loses her balance, pulling you down with her. You hit your head on the ground and black out to the sounds of screams and crashing.

Groggily, you open your eyes for the second time in the last three hours. You feel a sharp pain in your left foot, and it's too dark to see. In the distance, to the right, you can see a small flame flickering and hear people talking. The talking mingles with the crying, and the sound overall annoys you. You feel down to your left foot, and move a good sized rock off of it. You move it around and feel it's not broken, but still hurts like hell nonetheless. You stand up and decide to walk over to the flame. Some of the voices stop, and you can hear Jennifer speaking.

"Jack? Jack, oh my god, is that you? Derek, it's him!" She sounds excited to see you, but right now you're a little more concerned on figuring out what happened.
"Jennifer? Jennifer, what the hell happened?" You ask, still pained.
"Jack, nobody's really sure. There's a group trying to find the lights that the tour guides use to light this place up at night."
"Well, I hope they can-"

You're interrupted by the lights flickering on. Jennifer first seems happy, but then gasps. People are lying around on the ground, a majority of them injured. The entrance to the cave has, well, caved in, and crushed the bus in half. You look around. You have to find Sarah. Jennifer comes to your side and helps you search for her. Finally, you spot the familiar black tee'd girl lying prone and motionless. You run to her side and shake her, shouting her name. She slowly comes to, and looks in your eyes.

"J.. Jack? What happened?" She asks, slowly getting up. Her forehead has a minor looking cut, and is leaking a small amount of blood down. She reaches up and feels it, wincing in pain. She sighs deeply, looking around. "Are they all...?" You look at the bodies, and reply.
"Well, we don't know if they're all right or not. We don't even know where Ms. Feinston is right now. I think she was going into the bus when... It looks like the caves entrance collapsed, crushing it. We should probably take a look inside."

The three of you head over to the bus, and you climb in. The driver is collapsed over the wheel, with a large pile of rocks spilling to the left and right. His head is severely bloodied, and you doubt he's survived. You look back and see where the bus has been flattened into two halves. A woman's arm sticks out from the barricade of rocks, and it seems to be stiff. You grab and try to pull, but whomever is buried in there isn't budging. The hand doesn't even try to grip back or move at all, so you doubt that she's alive. Against better judgement, you look closer and see some hair sticking out and pull the rocks from near it. You learn that the person is in fact Ms. Feinston, and that she is in fact dead. Her head has been crushed between two rocks, and you suppress your urge to vomit, moving the moved rocks back on.

The girls immediately ask what happened when you exit the bus, and you tell them the driver and Ms. Feinston are dead. They both seem shocked, and unable to believe it. Derek approaches you all and informs you that he and another kid, Eric, have checked all the people they could find. Most of them are dead or dying, and there's probably eight survivors out of all. That shocks you. In a class of thirty, only eight are alive. The group is divided in two, with you and Derek leading the two groups. He tells you you have to search for a way out, or at least food until rescue comes out. Your group is comprised of you, Sarah, Eric, and the quiet girl, Alyssa. You start off down the path labeled "TOUR PATH", while Derek, Jennifer, and two other people head off on the "Staff Access Path".

Heading down the tunnels, it gets darker and harder to see in front of you. You think of heading in without a light, but you decide heading back to the entrance is a better choice. You know there has to be a light somewhere around here, just finding it will be hard. Sarah suggests the bus, but Eric thinks that one of the bodies may have a light source.
