You open the book at page 503. The title reads the Children of Hysta: intro

“According to their beliefs less than 30 years ago the children of Hysta lived an idyllic existence in their sacred garden away from the rest of the world. The ground was fertile and bounty was plentiful. They weren’t civilized but lived like noble savages in harmony with the land.

Then came what the children of Hysta call the great reawakening. They believe that there is only one god, or one Great Spirit to be more precise. For one day the Great Spirit awakens from its slumber and when it does so it takes on a new personality and name. Its previous incarnation was called Illuva and was peaceful. Then they were thus called the children of Illuva.

But this new incarnation was called Hysta and was a warlike god. He replaced his children’s gentle spirit with an lust for war, destruction and reproduction (more on their particular character later). Demonstrating his power he threw down a star from the heaven which set their garden ablaze burning everything to the ground. He also gave them boats so that they could travel to the rest of the world. Then he went to sleep for another thousand years.

After that wall of text there is an picture depicting a world aflame.
