Your hands absorb most of the force put into the swing but the pure force is more than you can handle. If that shoot had landed on your head you would have lost and even with your guard up it made you wobbly. Sensing a kill Acrom keeps up the swinging, he drives you backward with your guard held high from several swings. None of them made you cringe like the first one and you spot an opening for a split second. You fire away a meek swing of your own that stuns him just enough for you to make your escape.
