"We don't know what's going to happen," you say. "But we have to keep our head's up. We're alive, we're here, and we're safe."
"Look, I ain't no pessimist," she says slowly. "I've just seen what's going on out there, and the odds aren't real great."
"So?" You say. "We lock the vault, and we hide in here for awhile. When supplies get low, we go out again. Even if it's just a few days, things might look very different outside by then. Hell, maybe it'll be over."
"Fine," she says. "Go shut the vault and we'll get some rest. In the morning, when the sun is up, maybe we can go take a look outside."
