Town: Wonderful, but I need to study
From Create Your Own Story
You remember the atmosphere. Everyone was screaming, calling, yelling, the air was so alive! You've never been like you were on that day again. You imagine it was what warriors had felt like. To a child, it was the most wonderful thing in life. Adrenaline filled the crowds, but for a few precious moments there, it had been you, and you alone. You watched them fight for glory and life, and you imagined being one. Every dodge, every attack, it was you. Your blood pounded and you closed your eyes, and the crowd faded, the only thing remaining was your heartbeat.
When you opened your eyes, you saw the last punch connect. Most fights were fought with weapons, but a few were still fought with fists, combatants wearing only tight-fitting suits. At the time, you couldn't imagine anything else. This was life and death all in one.
Your father told you that it was the fire in you that made you feel that way and it was going to be the reason you were going to be a Leader. It was the only time he had ever said that to you, acknowledged what you all knew. It was one of the proudest moments of your life.
Your heart told you go to, every beat screamed now, but you knew the fire that burned within you wasn't meant for the Arena.
"Sorry John, I've got that Chemistry test coming up. I really have to study." You said, disappointed but resolute.
"Are you sure? Well, whatever. See you tomorrow then." John sounded slightly surprised.
"Yeah. Tomorrow."
You go back to your chemistry textbooks. Your mind wanders to the Arena every once in a while, but all in all you absorb a lot of knowledge for one night of studying. The world darkens, and your light turns on, sensing you still in the room. By the time you finish, it's nearly time to go to bed. You blink. Time passed a lot quicker then you thought it would.
You take a quick hot shower, and by the time you change and get back into your room it's already cleaned itself. You try to relax, you've been getting too little sleep lately. You eyes shut and you fall asleep to the silence.
