Tidy the garden(IE/WF)

You quickly change into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and go out into the garden; the lawn is getting quite high now so you get the mower out of the shed and start it up, the grass his too high and you struggle to cut it.
"You're doing that wrong miss." Says a voice from behind you, you turn quickly with a start. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you jump." The voice belongs to an old black man, all you see is his face peering at you from a gap in the fence that backs onto the park, and he looks to be in his sixties with his white hair, beard, and wrinkled face.
"You gave me a bit of a scare that's all; I didn't realize there was a gap in the fence."
"Yeah, it looks like someone has been swinging a baseball bat there's a few scuff marks all down the fence looks like this was a weak spot."
"Oh no, something else to repair, what were you saying about my mowing?"
"You're doing it wrong you have to set the blades higher first then you mow the lawn and once you've cut it you lower the blades and do it again until you have it at the height you want." You look down at the mower and realize you have no idea what he's talking about. "Do you want me to come around and show you how?" He asks.
