You are Sumiko, the young, slightly naive, cat-girl from the Feline-tribes, adept with a bow and convincing with her words.
You set out on your quest relatively early in the morning. You had packed the night before, giving your final goodbyes to family and friends, and didn't want to cause a disturbance in the morning.
You walk through the bright green scenery of the forests of the Feline-tribes, and you realize that it will be a long time before you set foot in such a familiar and welcoming place again.
You come to a road that splits in two. One path taking you to the east, another to the west. You pull out your map, and find that taking the east road will lead you out onto the vast plains and rolling pastures of the countryside. The west road will take you into a darker area of the forest, one which your mother always told you to stay away from when you were younger.
