You undress Vladimir and put suit and mask onto yourself. You drag his body underneath the porch. Grabbing your own suit, you leave the porch and return to the lounge. You hide your own suit inside a chest behind the stage and leave for the ballroom.
You walk around the curtain and the crowd begins clapping. They must think Vladimir has returned to finish the performance. You can’t finish the performance because you don’t know any magic tricks. You have to say something to get out of this situation, and fast. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up on end as your heart begins to race. This has to be convincing.
“I’m sorry folks, but I just talked to my agent on the phone,” you say in the best fake Russian accent you can muster. “The rest of the performance involved fire breathing and juggling with fire, along with chainsaws.” The crowd begins to gasp in astonishment, then claps for you. I can't believe they’re buying it, you think. “But he said that it would be a fire hazard in a room like this.” The crowd begins aww’ing in disappointment. “Therefore, I have no more tricks to show you. But I hope you enjoyed my earlier performances.” The crowd gives you an applause and you bow to them. You can’t help but grin behind your mask, even though you didn’t really earn it.
The crowd begins to disperse through the door to the ballroom.
