Serenity: take a swing at the monster rat

Title: Serenity the novice

The rat squeals out as Serenity's blunt sword scrapes its skin showing a little wound. It shakes off the pain however and growls more louder and more feral than before. Foam comes out of its mouth showing that this rat would give a nasty infection if it bit Serenity. Creeping forwards to get a closer advantage, the rat takes one step at a time while Serenity takes two steps back to make up for her retreat.
In return, the rat gave another swipe and gives a clean blow towards Serenity leg. It was once again painful to the touch and Serenity lets out another scream.
Serenity's bleeding increases!
Serenity only hopes for a miracle to come around and save her, from what she knows right now; it was the end of her.
