You try to fake looking despondent, but you end up putting on a much more believable ruse than you expected.
"Oh.. uh....," Ken doesn't do well under pressure, especially if he made someone else hurt. It was kinda cute to watch. Ken tried to calm himself down by bringing his bowl to the sink to wash it, but as he pours water on it, it slips from his shaky hands, dropping to the bottom of the sink. It wasn't damaged, but the sound was startling. The small boy laid the bowl on the drying rack before making his way to you.
"I..I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you like that. My joking went a bit too far."
You wipe off a fake tear and make eye contact with the startled teen. "Don't worry. I just... have had a hard week. Want to walk to school together today?"
Ken's face brightens up, from his previously somber expression. "Of course. I want to try to make it up to you. As a great friend, and a great person, you deserve great friends."
