Professor Burns realizes she needs to ask the Dean a question

From Create Your Own Story

Mary walks halfway down the hall towards her office when she remembers that Dean Richards had asked her to submit to him a list of specific research proposals for the semester. As she walks towards her office she feels a ping of embarrassment at the thought that she hadn't yet bothered much with the task. Since the Dean hadn't specified a deadline, her attitude had been rather lax. She thought it would be best to clarify what his expectations were. Mary reaches her office, opens the door, throws her purse on her chair, and turns back to walk the way she came.

Despite being the most decorated academic in the department, Dean Richards seemed to evaluate his faculty’s performance by their individual teaching abilities rather than research output alone. Mary couldn't recall ever having had a better boss, or at least one whose general attitude and demeanor impacted her work in such a pleasantly surprising way. This was all the more unusual to Mary - and everyone, for that matter - due to the fact that the Dean could only be described as an imposing man, in every sense of the word. His physical presence could not easily be ignored: at a height of 6’6”, he was easily the tallest man in the building. His broad shoulders, strong chest, and thick strong arms were a perfect complement to his remarkably handsome face. During one of Mary’s first department coffee hour breaks, the man had recounted for a group of professors that his parents had emigrated from Norway before he'd been born. Dean Richards had fair skin and dirty blonde hair. He had a narrow nose and deep blue eyes which contrasted with the brown color of his full beard. Thanks to his square and strong jaw line, he always looked pensive, if not outright stern. When all of this was taken into consideration along with his impressive career as an American Literature scholar, and having achieved it by age 41, it was no wonder that Mary had a secret crush on the man. Unfortunately, Mary had also met the happily married Dean's wife on several occasion, and his office was filled with photos of his happy family.

As she continues walking down the hallway, Mary lets her thoughts drift to memories of her birthday. After feeling her knees weaken at the sheer eroticism of that night’s hot and heavy sex, she realizes she hadn’t talked to her friend since those events transpired. She’d recently gotten an email from Lisa telling her about the new guy she was dating. A picture had been attached with the message and it occurred to Mary that the guy, named Steve, was strikingly similar to Dean Richards.

Mary reaches the Dean’s office and freezes as she places her hand on the door. For a split second, her mind is flooded by images of Dean Richards, her friend Lisa, and herself all entertained in a passionate orgy. She blushes deeply, takes a moment to catch her breath and clears the images out of her mind. Mary opens the door to his office.
