Piggy's Day/The emergency exit

Guard: "This isn't an apartment at all! He's escaping!"
As the guard says that, you've already ran two stories down on the downside of a flight of stairs.
Guard: "Get back here! Our whole economy is based around this one invention, and I know that's not a very sensible manner to run the economy of an entire moon, but the point is I can't let you escape!"
Piggy: "Screw you and your fourth world crap! I'm leaving this joint."
The stairway is at one end of a large hangar that contains a number of spaceships, including about four escape pods. After running up to the floor level, you realize there's no way to progress, because you can't walk on the floor.
Piggy: "Well damn. Now what?"
