M: Go find your advisor; you have a busy day today

From Create Your Own Story

Although early, many of the servants and many keepers of the castle proper have risen and begun their morning tasks, too. You pass and greet several cleaners, cooks, servants, squires and Old Timothy, the court physician, who seemed more preoccupied with balancing a bundle of flasks under his arm as you passed him on a spiral staircase.

You enter the main hall, modest in respects to many of the other castles and manors you have seen in your lifetime. A series of long oak tables runs the length of the room, and at the head, raised on a platform is the main table, where you and your family and trusted advisors usually sit for meals. It has also become the center of operations in recent months; the small study on the fifth floor becoming too cramped for the dozens of large maps, tokens, notes and letters required during war time. Your main advisor, Walter, is already sitting and piling through several documents. With a hidden sigh, you grab an apple and join him.

It's around midday when it happens. The door to the hall crashes open. You look up, bleary-eyed from hours of reading and writing. A young guard, clad in chain mail, bellows: "An enemy army approaching from the east, sir!" You and Walter jump to your feet. You feel a cold sweat come over you, but don't have time to think of the implications.
