Leave the house

From Create Your Own Story

People begin crowding at the perimeter of the front yard, watching the house. You stand with them, feigning fear. The whole group around you is talking, mostly asking what the boom was. Most people seemed to have no idea that it was a mine, much less an assassination.

After a few minutes, a man tugs at your shirt. “We’ve got to get out of here,” the man whispers to you in Harvey’s voice. “They’ll be calling the police, and you’ll be arrested, man. We’ve got to sneak out of here.” He leads you over to the edge of the group of people. There is a small thicket of trees outside of a guard patrol. “Well hide in the trees. When I say “go”, sneak past the guard patrol and hind behind a tree trunk.”

He waits until two of the guards face away from each other, creating a blind spot between them. He whispers “go” to you and you both dash across the open field to the thicket of trees. There, you two hide until Harvey motions you to follow him. He leads you out of the thicket and onto the street behind you. He says to you, “I’ve been following you. We wanted to make sure you could handle a mission all alone. I wasn’t stalking you to be creepy or nothing.”

“Now what do we do?” you ask him. “The other target’s still in the building.”

He glances over at the mansion. “Can’t go back in there.”

The gravity of your mistake hits you and you look down at your feet in shame. “Now what?”

“Looks like you’re not getting paid. Sorry, man.” He heaves a heavy sigh, and then looks back up at you. “Let’s get out of here. Grab a beer. Let’s forget this whole thing, okay?”

You’ve failed your mission, but I’m sure you can do better next time.<b>
