Head for the glow

You head towards the glow. As you get closer, you realize that someone is painting a rather large five-pointed star on their lawn using glow-in-the-dark paint. The painter stops painting as you get closer, with one side not yet complete. They must have noticed the novelty earrings glowing on either side of your head.

"Who is it?"

You recognize the voice. Crystal is in some of your classes.

"Hi, Crystal," you say. "It's Jenny, from down the block."

"Hello," Crystal says. "Nice to see you. Nice to see anything, really."

"What are you doing?" you ask.

"Something dark and cold has come to our world from somewhere else," Crystal says. "I'm trying to find a way to send it back where it came from. I need a light source and a heat source for each point of this pentagram. The concentration of light and heat will force the entity away. I hope."

Crystal's always been a bit weird, but today her weirdness is a good thing. You never would have thought of using a pentagram to drive the cold and dark away.

"I've got some lights and a battery-powered hairblower," you say.

"Great!" Crystal says. "There's some stores across the street. While I finish the pentagram, why don't you break in and hunt down some more heat sources?"
