Welcome to 'Hail to the Emperor'! This is a story about intrigue, politics and war! You, the wonderful reader, will take control of one of five main characters. Prepare to enter the world of Vrioyavan, the mighty Empire of the West! Millennia ago, the Lord of Aegremonth, Lucan d'Astarae, ambitiously conquered the entire western known world. He granted land to his followers, creating the first of the Elector-Princes. He divided the Empire into five parts, based on which people inhabited where. The Northern Mountains, inhabited by the Mid Dmang. These people are slim and squat, in order to more easily navigate their treacherous home. The Western Islands, inhabited by the Oran. Broad and fair-skinned, the Oran mastered the art of boatbuilding and the western Elector-Princes handle nearly every aspect of the Empire. The Heartlands, the center of the Empire, are inhabited by the original peoples of Emperor d'Astarae's army. They are the keystone of the Empire, and nearly every Emperor elected has been from the Heartlands. The Southern Fields are home to the wealthiest and most beautiful people in the Empire, the Ducal. The Ducal named themselves after their leaders, the Dukes that swore fealty to Lucan d'Astarae millennia ago. Finally, we come to the Eastern Badlands. Once inhabited by barbarian nomads, the clans swore fealty to d'Astarae and became his buffer from threats to the east. Since the Empire's creation, the Easterlings have fended off slavers, monsters, magicians and the Blackguard, the elite forces of a distant and mystical kingdom.
