Go for a drive and think about it

From Create Your Own Story

As I'm driving I nearly hit a Himalayan cat and I frantically skid to a stop. Not a second passes before a teenaged girl runs out in front of my car screaming, "Sorry!"

I roll down my window, "Is she okay? Are you okay? What is she doing out in the middle of the street?"

The girl ushers me to park and then comes right up to my window. Her hair is tied back in a loose ponytail with a visor. She is wearing a blue polo T-shirt with a tiny cartoon cat on the front pocket. She is short of breath as she speaks, "Like I said, I am so sorry. I actually work at this pet store that you are parked in front of and I was supposed to be giving one of the Labradors a bath, but Yoyo, the cat, escaped and I was just trying to catch her before my manager came back and noticed that I had messed up again. I'm really sorry ma'am."

I nod my head and assure her that everything is fine and that she should take a deep breath. "So you work at this pet store, huh?" I say, "You guys hiring?"

The girl smiles and takes a deep breath, "Actually, we are. We are down now to only four workers, and so we are desperate to find others to fill up some of the shifts. I swear, my entire teenage life is this job! It's not all too bad though. I mean, I love animals. We don't just hire anyone though, you have to be committed to the animals. Our most important task is to make sure that all of the animals are taken care of to the upmost standards before they find good homes."

"I'm definitely interested. I've had animals my whole life growing up. How soon do you think I could get an interview? I'm in desperate need for a job." I suddenly regret that last part, unsure if it didn't make me seem as "committed to the animals" as she expected.

Thankfully, she didn't seem to notice. "My manager Chris should be back in about fifteen minutes. We aren't busy today; I'm sure he would be willing to give you an interview."
