"You up for it?"
Valerie smiles cheerfully. "Absolutely! Lemme get changed." She dashes out of the room.
Cheval stands up next and nods to you. "Hey, you done good, kid. Made a real good impression on everyone today."
You smile back. "Thanks. You helped too."
He shakes his head. "Nope, that was all you. You blew Barbara's mind with that response at the end. I just called 'scene'. That's my seal of approval when she does that to guys in the lobby."
You blush and nod. "Well, thanks. I'm looking forward to working with you."
The horse tips an invisible hat toward you. "And you as well. Have a good night." He walks to the door, then looks back and adds, "Don't let Valerie work you TOO hard." He grins and walks out.
A few minutes later, Valerie bounces back into the room, dressed in a sensible pair of jeans, a blue shirt, and a black jacket. "Ready to go?"
You nod. "Let's go." The two of you head out to the lobby where Cheval is waiting. He turns off the lights and locks the front door behind you, then waves and heads to a pickup truck across the lot.
Valerie guides you to a modest red car nearby. Once you and she get in, she wastes no time. "So, want me to just take you home? Or would you like to come over to my place and hang out for a while?" Given what happened earlier, you pretty much know what kind of "hanging out" she has in mind.
