Fire your shotgun into the air

You feel hesitation and panic flow through you. Part of you is screaming to shoot Bethany, but the other part is questioning what exactly is going on. With the need to do something, you fire a shot into the air, but by then Bethany has already brought the axe down, smashing John's skull open like a ripe melon.
Mike whirls at the sound, aiming his gun at Bethany. "What have you done?!"
Bethany drops the axe and raises her hands in the air. "It's not what it looks like!"
"What is it, then?" you ask, keeping your shotgun trained on her.
She simply points at John's corpse. As you and Mike watch, the body transforms from human into a hideous-looking blue alien, then crumbles into blue dust. You gulp in fear but also excitement. It WAS aliens!
"John went out one day to look for meteorites," says Bethany. "The aliens must have gotten to him. Somehow they turned him into one of them. When he came back to camp, he just started killing. I was the only one who got away."
"How many of them are there?" you ask.
"I have no idea," says Bethany. "Could be just a few, could be an alien army ready to invade."
"Come on, we'd better get you back to camp," says Mike. "Let's be ready for them if they attack again." He raises his gun.
Bethany shakes her head. "I tried shooting Alien-John when he was on his killing spree. Shots to his body healed almost instantly and shots to his head couldn't penetrate the thick alien skull. Luckily I managed to grab this." She waves her axe.
"Then we'd better hurry," says Mike.
Suddenly, there is a scream in the distance.
