Embrace your new status as a captain

You go to the harbor to take a look at Midnight, your new galleon. It is aptly named : its hull and sails are painted black. As you approach, the pirates on board look at you warily and ask who you are. You explain to them that captain Vasco gambled the ship and lost it to you. As proof, you show them the galleon's deed of ownership. They are very skeptical and do not seem too keen to start obeying a complete stranger (and a landlubber to boot).
A dark-haired young woman leans on the railing. "Why isn't Vasco here?" she asks with obvious worry.
