Nieva is a dark beauty. Pale of skin, slender and wearing enticingly simple robes (except when the occasion present itself for her to wear something fancy). Her hair is raven black and terribly long. Nieva is a sorceress. Young, she was believed to be a witch and her family was slaughtered because of it. She was saved by knights clad in dark armour and acolytes in dark robes. They brought her with them, teaching her how to use her magic and offered her shelter and warmth in their strange society. When she was old enough, she went her way, keeping in touch with those who saved her life. It is there she met Valan and the two have travelled together to similar goals ever since.
