"Shit that was close!" you exclaim, deftly putting an arm around Katy. "Let's get out of here!"

"Please," she manages after a moment, clearly in shock. After a few more seconds, "Thanks for sticking up for me back there, Brandon."

You proceed the rest of the way to Katy's house in silence. When you get there, there's no car in the driveway. Katy's parents clearly aren't home yet.

"Will you... uh... would you like to come in with me?" she stammers, still clearly shaken.

The two of you go inside, up to Katy's room, and sit down on her bed.

"I... I always hated Mark," she confides, "but I never thought I'd see him... I don't know what to do."
