Chapter 7: Run to point B

From Create Your Own Story

I decided I would go live with my aunt. She was always there for me. She cared for me, loved me, everything. There was only 1 problem, though.

She was killed.

I went to her house, and she was just lying there, bloodied, and beaten. Someone had killed her.

I hate gangs. Gangs are what tore me and my dad apart. Gangs are what killed my mother. Gangs are why my best friend is long gone. Gangs are why my neighbor is dead. Gangs are why my aunt is dead. Gangs are why I ran away. Gangs are what I hate...and why I hate.

I didn't what I would do now. I called police about my dead aunt, and they said it must've been at least a week since she died. What the hell? Nobody wanted to call the cops?

Anyway, what could I do now? There was absolutely nothing I could do. Nothing. Nowhere to go, and no one to be with.

I had only one choice. Go to prison.

I turned myself in, claiming I was the one who killed my aunt (I didn't mention it was my aunt.)

The judge sentenced me to 10 years in prison, but I talked him into giving me life instead. I must've been fucked up. What person wants life in prison? I did.

So around the first few days, I got to know some people in my cell. Some guy named Bobby Joe (that's just his first name, tho I doubt it's his real name), and I'm not sure what the other guy's names were.

During lunch, I heard a familier voice call me. "JOHNY!" It was Alex.

"Alex? Wh...what are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here? What are YOU doing here?"

"Who cares, man. It's great to see you."

"You too."

"Dude. Your uncle or neighbor or whoever takes care of you, said you were long gone. Where'd you go?"

"That must've been Keiyeef, some friend of my dad before he died. Anyway, I never ran away. They, um...Kaiyeef turned me in for the crack--he was pissed he didn't get any--so now I'm here."

"How long?"

"Awhile. Kaiyeef also framed me for a bunch of shit, like murder, and weed. Anyway, what's your story?"

"Well, where do I begin? My dad is being an ass, my mom and neigbor are dead, Kaieef wants me dead since I sorta took his money--that's another story--my aunt is dead, should I go on? Anyway, with you gone, I had nowhere to go, so I framed myself for murder, and now I've got life in prison, because I had nowhere else to go."

"That sucks, man. Listen, I'm gonna eat my food before it gets cold. I'll see ya around. Remember man. I'll always have your back."

"Thanks, man. I'll remember that."

It was nice to see that at least I wouldn't be lonely in my prison days. But then...I was only 13.

A few months have passed since then. My birthday is tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to spending it in prison. But hey, what are you going to do? I've got plenty of friends now, so prison is actually not all bad. NOTHING like I thought it would be. And with my best friend by my side, it could never be bad.

I had a visitor later that day. It turned out to be my dad.

"So...this is where you belong, huh?"

"Don't give me shit, dad!"

"Watch your mouth!"

"Make me!"

He simply groaned.

"I....I guess I can't make you, son. I guess I can't make you do anything. Seeing where you are, I guess I have failed as a father."

I saw a lady in the backround. "Who's that?"

"It's Tony. She's your new mother, for when you come home."

"Didn't they tell you? I'm never coming home. And you're right, dad. You have failed me as a father."

"If that's the way you feel. Happy birthday, Johny." And he got up and left.
