You gently scoop Kiana into your arms and cradle her against you. She shivers slightly.
You carry her back to your parents' house and upstairs into your room, where you lie her in the bed. You stretch out next to her and nudge her head onto your chest.
"You're still wounded, dear," you whisper. "We can mate when you heal."
Kiana looks unhappy. "I feel all right."
"Close your eyes," you tell her, gently holding her against you. She spends most of the next week asleep as her body recovers from the wounds.
By then, her wounds have almost fully healed. "Now you can mate," you tell her.
