You quietly clap along with the other girls as Ms. Devato walks offstage.
You glance at Charlotte. You know she wouldn't like it if you agreed with what anybody else said. Charlotte and you aren't the closest of friends, or really friends at all, but Charlotte seems to believe that she owns you and treats you like a sort of pet.
The clapping quietens and you watch an expression on Charlotte's face you've seen so many times before. You discreetly sigh as Charlotte picks out her new victim for the term, or maybe even the year. For now, Charlotee seems to have chosen a quiet girl, somebody named Zoe, and you think you recall seeing she was Swedish on the placement papers.
Charlotte turns to you and whispers, "Isn't she sad? What is she wearing?" You pretend to giggle along with Charlotte, feeling it's better to satiate Charlotte than to be outcast by your only "friend". She's done it before.
However, you do know how horrible Charlotte makes life for her victims. Wouldn't it be better to finally defend one of them? At least once?
