The guards have misshapen weapons that are of no use to you. They also possess some odd coins that are not made of any metal you're familiar with. One of them also has a mysterious object that emits a disconcerting glow. It emits a faint aura of darkness, as if it absorbs the light that is near it. When you hold it close to a nearby torch, the light is pulled into it and the torch extinguishes. You pocket the object.
