He rolls his eyes, but you can see the annoyed look in his eyes and you can't help but feel triumphant.
"You leave me no choice, Althea," he said, frowning. The boy turned to one of the soldiers by the solid white door behind him.
"Send everyone to the Desolate."
You freeze, and suddenly it's as if everyone turned stiff. The Desolate, something about that name gives you the chills, but you stop yourself from revealing this.
He turned to you, a sadness obvious in his face. "Are you happy now? That I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life?"
"Happy? I'm very pleased. As long as I'm away, from. you," you spat. The moment the words left your mouth you felt surprised they had formed.
"Goodbye, Thea," he said softly.
Before you can say something, anything, about what the Desolate is, what his name is... who you are, you're unconscious.
