Ask her what she plans on doing.

From Create Your Own Story

"What do I plan on doing?" she asks, turning to you. "Surviving."

"And that's it?" You ask. "Just sit around and wait?"

She sighs, hangs her head for a moment. "No," she says quietly. "Before the phones went out, my mom and my brother were on the L train, coming home. She called to say that the police were stopping the train and pulling everyone off, sending them to some shelter up on 9th street. I'm going to go find them."

"That's like seven blocks from here," you say, concerned.

"Eight," she answers.

"What about your stepdad?" You ask.

"I don't know where he is and I don't care." She packs up a few can goods and a few bottled waters. "Same goes for you. You can stay behind and sit it out, or you can come with me. I don't care."
