You open the front door on the passenger side and claim the front seat for yourself. Kirsten argues strongly against it. Not happy about the bickering starting right at the beginning of a several-hour drive, your Mom orders you to be silent and gives Debra the front seat.

That leaves the back seats for you and Kirsten. Kirsten is sitting behind the driver's seat, you are sitting behind Debra.

Your Mom hits the pedal and steers the vehicle to the Interstate. Your mother blocks any attempt at conversation, so you decide to listen to music over your headphones. The familiar voice of Jenny Lewis, the singer of Rilo Kiley, fills your head while you watch the boring end never changing landscape fly by.

You must have dozed for a while; when you come to, the sun stands high in the sky. You raise your hand to shield your eyes from the sun. During the last year you almost always feel aroused when waking up, and much to your embarrassment, today's not different.
