You decide to look for a weapon. It'll be dark soon, and if horror movies have taught you anything, it's that vampires as well as other monsters come out at night.
You make a quick check through the records room, but you see nothing you could use as a weapon.
That leaves the other rooms around the foyer. The first door you open leads to a furnished room. It seems to have been a sitting room at some point. There's a single window in the wall- more of a slit than anything else. Harsh chairs line the room, and tapestries adorn the walls. A divan in the corner catches your attention. You tip it on its side and kick at one of the legs. After a few good plants, the leg comes free. It's jagged and sharp on the end you've just broken; an improvised stake.
