You sit down on the sofa, keeping a couple of feet between you. 'Thanks for taking the case,' she says. 'I didn't think you would after you found out that Marty Riordan was involved.'
'I haven't taken it yet,' you say. 'Tell me everything. Especially everything concerning Marty Riordan. And no holding back secrets this time.'
The blonde smiles. 'Of course.' She takes a sip of her drink. If she looked good in your office that morning, she looks even more terrific in the darkened room with the sound of the rain coming through the window.
