You dive to the side just as the thing lunges. You feel it whizz past your body as it misses and crashes into the wall behind you.
Still completly blind, you feel for the button on the torch and press it. A narrow beam of light illuminates some of the darkness around you. Quickly, you jump to your feet just as the thing recovers from its clash with the wall.
